About Us
From Protech’s beginnings over 25 years ago as a small job and pipeworks shop, through changes becoming a miscellaneous metals contractor for local high-rise developments a lot of steel has been moved through our doors, wherever they’ve been. Over the past 15 years or so, since Ryan and Ryan have taken over ownership, our primary focus has changed once again. Our desire and goal is to develop long-lasting relationships with local businesses, developers and suppliers to supply high quality structural steel on time and on budget. Our team of diligent, experienced tradespeople and managers enjoy both living and playing here at home in BC, and are proud of contributing to our local community.

Our journeymen and apprentice fabricators and welders come from diverse technical backgrounds. With experience in heavy equipment manufacturing and repair, to structural steel design, fabrication and erecting, to furniture production our team has the collective ability to design, build and manufacture your metal needs…whatever they might be. With Canadian Welding Bureau certification, and continual testing, you can rest assured that your project will be manufactured, produced and completed properly.
Our Story
Born in BC and raised on Vancouver Island both Ryans have been steel trade journeymen since their early 20’s. Now, with over 20 years working together, they are each raising their own families in the Vancouver area and love being part of the ever growing community. Both have a passion for steel and construction that has now spanned decades…..and it shows no sign of stopping any time soon.

Design
With today’s complicated designs, 3-D modelling has become an invaluable tool for steel design. With the ability to see conflicts before manufacturing or even professional review by engineers and architects, our 3-D modelling capabilities will save your project time, money and more importantly, frustration. With in-house modelling in AutoCad, Solidworks as well as available Sketch-Up software, projects can be modelled rapidly, allowing your project to develop and progress efficiently.
Fabrication
By utilizing the newest technology in production based welding machinery and materials, our collective team can get it done fast. Along with our in-house HD-Plasma plate processing machinery allowing for direct input from our 3-D models, Protech can produce custom structural projects in days instead of weeks.
Installation
BC’s coastal terrain can be tricky. Years of installing steel on difficult properties has enabled us to develop the skills and have the tools needed to get steel where any project requires it. Having excellent working relationships with numerous craning companies, we can usually get your project the machine it needs quickly. When there simply isn’t a machine that works, we cut, weld and erect by hand, either way our team of professional installers will it get done.
Plasma Cutting
We offer rapid delivery of plasma cut profiles up to 3-1/2″ thickness in steel, stainless and aluminum. Our in-house HD plasma table can handle up to 24′ x 8′ materials and along with powerful nesting software, we can help keep your production costs and timelines minimized.
